UPDATE – Sunday, December 2 – 8:45 a.m.

Blue Jay, CA – The 33rd Annual Blue Jay Christmas Parade is history.

But judges Steve Keefe (Coldwell Banker Sky Ridge Realty), John Wurm (John Wurm Attorney At Law) and Captain Rick Ells (Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station) had a difficult task of choosing award-winning entries from those entered in the December 1 annual event.

BEST BUSINESS – Jensen’s Finest Foods took the honors with a “Charlie Brown Christmas.”

BEST NON-BUSINESS – Uncle Sam and his penny-farthing bike rode to victory in this category.

BEST BAND – Mountain Fifes & Drums drew plenty of applause as they made they way down the parade route.

BEST THEME – Mountain West Financial’s float captured the award for showcasing the parade’s theme — “Building Dreams and Memories”  with their depiction of A Family Album.

BEST OVERALL ENTRY – Rim High School’s CIF Championship Football Team probably drew the most attention during the parade.

FUNNIEST – The smoky entry from the Association of Building Contractors promoting Rebuilding Together brought smiles to the crowd especially when they saw a man reading a book while sitting on the commode.

Second District Supervisor Janice Rutherford and mountain field representative Lewis Murray were greeted by those viewing the parade.

Assemblyman Tim Donnelly (R-Twin Peaks) and his wife, Rowena, greet the crowd at the Blue Jay Christmas Parade.

For many years, Dr. Wes Kohtz was one of the judges for the parade but this year the Blue Jay optometrist decided to enter the parade.
